Bakashana Health Center Services

Built in 2019 in collaboration with The Anna Lalor Burdick Foundation, Bakashana’s health center and female friendly space offers free health services for underserved populations in the Kasama District. These services include:

Family Planning Services

family planning

Bakashana offers free short-and-long-term family planning options to our clients, from daily pills to IUDs which can last for 12 years. Women who are empowered to make informed choices about their birth control methods are more likely to adhere to that method and keep their families at a manageable size.

HIV/AIDs prevention, counselling, testing and treatment

In partnership with John Snow International (JSI) and the Ministry of Health, we offer free HIV/AIDs testing and counselling at our center. As many of those who frequent our Resource Center are youth, we are amp-ing up our promotion of PREP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) to help young people prevent the contraction of HIV. To close the gap between a positive test and effective treatment, we provide discrete, anonymous and confidential Antiretroviral Treatment (ART) for clients found positive for HIV.

Under Five Services

We provide free growth monitoring and immunizations for our Kasama Community. Clients prefer our center because we provide high-quality care with shorter waiting times than local government alternatives. Offering family planning services from the same center simplifies the process of sensitizing mothers about the importance of responsibly managing their family’s size.

Under Five Services

Referral

For those clients who fear that their confidentiality may be compromised at a Government facility, or that they will not be treated with the respect and prompt service they deserve, we offer Referral to outside medical services after examination by our certified Nurse. We also offer medical advocacy services to ensure that our underserved and vulnerable clients are receiving the services they deserve at local Government medical facilities.
